What makes for the best baby adventure clothes?

Here at First Peak, we’ve thought a lot about building the ideal adventure clothes for little explorers. We’ve been inspired by our own mishaps and success adventuring with young kids, and have compiled a list of the most important traits to consider when dressing babies and toddlers for adventure.

#1: Comfy

Maybe it’s a no-brainer, but this trait needs to top the list. At the end of the day, and uncomfortable baby, no matter how“performant” their clothes are, will be an unhappy baby. Consider softness, fit, and breathability.

#2: Bacteria-resistant

Athleisure and outdoor brands figured it out long ago: stinky clothes are no fun! Textile technology has evolved greatly in recent years, and there are many options on the market for safe, natural textiles that fight off odor, bacteria, mildew, and more. For us, this trait is key: little ones are bound to get messy, and having clothes that can handle that mess allows for more wear with fewer outfit changes.

#3: Quick drying

Related to the above, clothes that don’t get soggy and warped allow for much happier exploration. Quick drying clothes are also able to be washed and hung overnight, so they’re great for travel, camping, and more.

#4: Sun safe

Our little ones have highly sensitive skin, and keeping them covered up can be a challenge! Clothes designed with good coverage and UPF-rated fabrics ensure protection from UVA and UVB rays, even during carrier naps.
So there’s our list! We could go on and on about other things we care about — eco-friendly fabrics, nature-inspired colors, local production — but we figure this list is a good start.
